If your offer letter says 11 LPA, the honest monthly figure is about ₹78,262, not ₹91,667. 11 LPA means a cost to company of ₹11,00,000 a year, or ₹91,667 a month, and around ₹13,405 of that never reaches you as cash each month. Below, I've worked through every rupee of the gap, line by line, so you can match it against your own payslip.

All figures below follow one consistent set of assumptions, so you can compare packages fairly: basic pay is 50% of CTC (the minimum share for 'wages' under the Labour Codes in force since November 2025), PF is 12% of basic on each side, gratuity is provisioned at 4.81% of basic, professional tax is ₹200 a month, and tax is worked out under the new regime for FY 2026-27.

11 LPA salary breakup (monthly and yearly)

Here is the 11 LPA package laid out the way it would appear if your HR team explained it line by line, with both yearly and monthly amounts so you can compare it directly with an offer letter or a payslip.

ComponentYearlyMonthly
CTC (11 LPA)₹11,00,000₹91,667
Employer PF (12% of basic)₹66,000₹5,500
Gratuity provision (4.81% of basic)₹26,455₹2,205
Gross salary₹10,07,545₹83,962
of which Basic (50% of CTC)₹5,50,000₹45,833
of which HRA (40% of basic)₹2,20,000₹18,333
  of which Special allowance₹2,37,545₹19,795
Employee PF (12% of basic)₹66,000₹5,500
Professional tax₹2,400₹200
Income tax (new regime, incl. cess)₹0₹0
In-hand salary₹9,39,145₹78,262

In plain terms, 85.4% of your CTC is spendable cash. Another 12.0% is saved for you in EPF (₹11,000 a month, earning 8.25%), and 2.4% is the gratuity provision you collect after five years with the employer. Only professional tax are true costs.

Why there is no income tax on 11 LPA

Tax is worked out on gross salary, not on CTC. Start with the gross of ₹10,07,545, take off the ₹75,000 standard deduction that every salaried person gets in the new regime, and you arrive at ₹9,32,545 of taxable income. That amount then runs through the FY 2026-27 slabs below.

Taxable income slabRateIncome in slabTax
₹0 – ₹4,00,0000%₹4,00,000₹0
₹4,00,000 – ₹8,00,0005%₹4,00,000₹20,000
₹8,00,000 – ₹12,00,00010%₹1,32,545₹13,255
Tax on slabs₹33,255
Less: Section 87A rebate− ₹33,255
Add: 4% health & education cess₹0
Income tax payable₹0
Zero tax, but only up to a point

Your taxable income of ₹9,32,545 is within the ₹12 lakh limit for the Section 87A rebate, so the slab tax of ₹33,255 is fully cancelled. You still have about ₹2,67,455 of headroom, so a raise that adds less than that to your taxable income keeps you at zero tax.

Old vs new tax regime at 11 LPA

Is the old regime ever better at 11 LPA? Here is a straight comparison using the same gross salary. The middle column is someone who claims only their own PF under 80C; the right column is someone who maxes out 80C and claims ₹25,000 for health insurance under 80D. Rent-based HRA exemption is not included.

NewOld (PF only)Old (full 80C + 80D)
Standard deduction₹75,000₹50,000₹50,000
Other deductionsNonePT + PF ₹66,000PT + ₹1.5L 80C + ₹25k 80D
Taxable income₹9,32,545₹8,89,145₹7,80,145
Income tax / year₹0₹93,942₹71,270
In-hand / month₹78,262₹70,434₹72,323

The new regime wins here, and by a margin: even if you use the full ₹1.5 lakh of 80C and ₹25,000 of health insurance, the old regime still costs ₹71,270 more a year. With the new regime already at zero tax, there is nothing for the old regime to beat.

How much loan can you get on 11 LPA?

When you apply for a loan, the bank will ask for your payslips, so it is the ₹78,262 take-home that counts. A common comfort zone is to keep all EMIs, including any car or personal loans, at 40% to 50% of that figure: about ₹31,305 to ₹39,131 a month.

As a rough illustration, an EMI of ₹31,305 supports a home loan of about ₹36,07,282 over 20 years at 8.5% interest. Your actual eligibility depends on your credit score, existing loans, employer category and the bank's own policy, so treat this as a ballpark, not an offer.

If your employer caps PF at ₹15,000 basic

One question to ask before you accept a 11 LPA offer: is PF calculated on your full basic of ₹45,833 a month, or on the ₹15,000 statutory ceiling? The answer moves your monthly cash noticeably:

12% of full basicCapped at ₹15,000
Employee PF / month₹5,500₹1,800
Income tax / year₹0₹0
In-hand / month₹78,262₹85,662
Total EPF saving / year₹1,32,000₹43,200

With the cap, your take-home rises by about ₹7,400 a month, but you put ₹88,800 a year less into EPF. If you take the cap, consider moving at least part of that extra cash into a SIP or PPF so your long-term saving doesn't quietly shrink.

Is 11 LPA a good package?

11 LPA puts you well above the typical salaried income in India. It is common for professionals with roughly three to eight years of experience, or for strong campus offers in tech and consulting. At ₹78,262 a month, you can run a household in a metro, save meaningfully and service a home loan, though big-city rents still take a large share.

Monthly budget on a 11 LPA salary

A simple way to plan a take-home of ₹78,262 is the 50-30-20 split. It is a starting point, not a rule: in a metro, rent alone can eat most of the 'needs' bucket, while in a smaller city you may save far more.

BucketSharePer month
Needs (rent, groceries, bills, EMIs)50%₹39,131
Wants (eating out, travel, shopping)30%₹23,479
Savings and investments20%₹15,652

Keep in mind that you are already saving ₹11,000 a month through EPF before this budget even starts. Build an emergency fund of three to six months of expenses, about ₹2,34,786 to ₹4,69,573, before you lock money into long-term investments.

How this was calculated

Basic = 50% × ₹11,00,000 = ₹5,50,000
Employer PF = 12% × basic = ₹66,000; Gratuity = 4.81% × basic = ₹26,455
Gross = CTC − employer PF − gratuity = ₹10,07,545
Taxable (new regime) = gross − ₹75,000 = ₹9,32,545 → tax ₹0
In-hand = gross − employee PF ₹66,000 − PT ₹2,400 − tax ₹0 = ₹9,39,145

Assumptions behind every number on this page:

  • Basic pay at 50% of CTC, HRA at 40% of basic, the remainder as special allowance.
  • Employer PF and gratuity are part of CTC; no insurance premium, meal card or variable pay is assumed.
  • Professional tax is taken as ₹200 a month (₹2,400 a year). It varies by state: Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh do not levy it, and Karnataka exempts gross pay up to ₹25,000 a month.
  • Tax uses FY 2026-27 new-regime slabs, the ₹75,000 standard deduction, the Section 87A rebate up to ₹12 lakh with marginal relief, surcharge where relevant and 4% cess.

If your company uses a different basic percentage or caps PF, put your own numbers into the CTC to in-hand calculator, or use the quick calculator on this page.
