How to read this chart
The column that matters for your monthly budget is in-hand salary. The PF column is money that still belongs to you: your employer adds the same amount, and both earn 8.25% in your EPF account. Notice that tax stays at zero up to about 13.5 LPA, appears suddenly at 14 LPA and then rises steadily. Between 14 and 14.5 LPA, take-home barely moves at all because of marginal relief; the 14.5 LPA page explains why.
Why your payslip may differ
- Basic pay share. A 40% basic means less PF and more cash each month.
- PF ceiling. Many employers deduct PF only on ₹15,000 of basic (₹1,800 a month).
- State professional tax. Some states charge none, others up to ₹2,500 a year.
- Variable pay and perks. Bonuses, insurance premiums and meal cards inside CTC change the monthly figure.
- Tax regime and deductions. Old-regime taxpayers with large HRA or home-loan deductions can pay less tax.

Frequently asked questions
How is in-hand salary calculated from LPA?
Divide the CTC into basic pay (50%) and allowances, subtract employer PF and gratuity to get gross salary, then subtract employee PF, professional tax and income tax. Divide by 12 for the monthly figure.
Up to what CTC is there no income tax in FY 2026-27?
With a 50% basic and PF on full basic, up to about 13.9 LPA under the new regime, because gross salary stays within ₹12.75 lakh and taxable income within the ₹12 lakh rebate limit.
Why do your figures differ from other websites?
Mostly because of the basic pay share and PF assumption. We use 50% basic (the Labour Code norm since November 2025) and PF on full basic; a 40% basic or PF capped at ₹15,000 gives a higher take-home.
