37 LPA means a cost to company of ₹37,00,000 a year, or ₹3,08,333 a month. That second number is the one most people quote, but it is not what your bank account sees. Your employer keeps part of the CTC for its own PF contribution and gratuity, and your own PF, professional tax and any income tax come out before salary is credited. On a standard structure, a 37 LPA package pays roughly ₹2,13,954 a month in hand in FY 2026-27.

The numbers use the structure most employers have moved to since the new Labour Codes took effect on 21 November 2025: basic pay at 50% of CTC, employer and employee PF at 12% of basic each, gratuity provision at 4.81% of basic, professional tax of ₹200 a month and the new tax regime for FY 2026-27, whose slabs Budget 2026 left unchanged.

How much income tax is deducted on 37 LPA?

The tax calculation starts from your taxable income of ₹33,14,015, which is the gross salary of ₹33,89,015 less the ₹75,000 standard deduction. Your employer's PF and gratuity contributions are outside this figure, and in the new regime there is no deduction for professional tax or your own PF.

That is an effective tax rate of 16.1% of your CTC, even though your top slab is 30%. Your employer deducts it as TDS spread evenly across the year, roughly ₹49,764 a month, and adjusts it in the last quarter once your investment proofs are in.

37 LPA salary breakup (monthly and yearly)

Here is the 37 LPA package laid out the way it would appear if your HR team explained it line by line, with both yearly and monthly amounts so you can compare it directly with an offer letter or a payslip.

ComponentYearlyMonthly
CTC (37 LPA)₹37,00,000₹3,08,333
Employer PF (12% of basic)₹2,22,000₹18,500
Gratuity provision (4.81% of basic)₹88,985₹7,415
Gross salary₹33,89,015₹2,82,418

of which HRA (40% of basic)₹7,40,000₹61,667

Income tax (new regime, incl. cess)₹5,97,173₹49,764
In-hand salary₹25,67,442₹2,13,954

Two lines deserve a second look. The ₹3,10,985 a year of employer PF and gratuity is part of your CTC but never shows up on a monthly payslip. And the ₹2,22,000 of employee PF is not lost: together with the employer's share, ₹4,44,000 a year goes into your EPF account, which currently earns 8.25% (the rate EPFO declared for FY 2025-26).

Old vs new tax regime at 37 LPA

Is the old regime ever better at 37 LPA? Here is a straight comparison using the same gross salary. The middle column is someone who claims only their own PF under 80C; the right column is someone who maxes out 80C and claims ₹25,000 for health insurance under 80D. Rent-based HRA exemption is not included.

NewOld (PF only)Old (full 80C + 80D)

In-hand / month₹2,13,954₹1,97,116₹1,97,766

The new regime wins here, and by a margin: even if you use the full ₹1.5 lakh of 80C and ₹25,000 of health insurance, the old regime still costs ₹1,94,251 more a year. To make the old regime cheaper you would need about ₹7,97,599 of total deductions (80C, 80D, HRA exemption, home-loan interest and so on, on top of the standard deduction and professional tax). That is realistic mainly if you pay high rent in a metro or are repaying a home loan.

Save tax with employer NPS (Section 80CCD(2))

The new regime removes almost every deduction, but one survives: your employer's contribution to NPS under Section 80CCD(2), up to 14% of basic pay. If your company offers it, you can ask HR to move part of your special allowance into NPS. At 14% of basic, that is ₹2,59,000 a year going into your retirement account instead of your salary.

Current structureWith 14% employer NPS
Income tax / year₹5,97,173₹4,35,557
In-hand / month₹2,13,954₹2,05,838
NPS contribution / year₹0₹2,59,000

Your monthly cash goes down by ₹8,115, but you save ₹1,61,616 of tax a year and build ₹2,59,000 of retirement savings. The trade-off is liquidity: NPS money stays locked until 60, with only partial withdrawals before that. Note also that employer contributions to PF, NPS and superannuation together are tax-free only up to ₹7.5 lakh a year.

Is 37 LPA a good salary in India?

37 LPA is a top-bracket salary in India, usually tied to leadership roles, niche expertise, or large tech and finance firms. A large share of the CTC at this level is often variable or stock-based, so check how much of the ₹2,13,954 monthly figure is truly fixed before you plan around it.

How much loan can you get on 37 LPA?

When you apply for a loan, the bank will ask for your payslips, so it is the ₹2,13,954 take-home that counts. A common comfort zone is to keep all EMIs, including any car or personal loans, at 40% to 50% of that figure: about ₹85,581 to ₹1,06,977 a month.

As a rough illustration, an EMI of ₹85,581 supports a home loan of about ₹98,61,617 over 20 years at 8.5% interest. Your actual eligibility depends on your credit score, existing loans, employer category and the bank's own policy, so treat this as a ballpark, not an offer.

Monthly budget on a 37 LPA salary

A simple way to plan a take-home of ₹2,13,954 is the 50-30-20 split. It is a starting point, not a rule: in a metro, rent alone can eat most of the 'needs' bucket, while in a smaller city you may save far more.

Needs (rent, groceries, bills, EMIs)50%₹1,06,977
Wants (eating out, travel, shopping)30%₹64,186
Savings and investments20%₹42,791

Keep in mind that you are already saving ₹37,000 a month through EPF before this budget even starts. Build an emergency fund of three to six months of expenses, about ₹6,41,861 to ₹12,83,721, before you lock money into long-term investments.

How this was calculated

Basic = 50% × ₹37,00,000 = ₹18,50,000
Employer PF = 12% × basic = ₹2,22,000; Gratuity = 4.81% × basic = ₹88,985
Gross = CTC − employer PF − gratuity = ₹33,89,015
Taxable (new regime) = gross − ₹75,000 = ₹33,14,015 → tax ₹5,97,173
In-hand = gross − employee PF ₹2,22,000 − PT ₹2,400 − tax ₹5,97,173 = ₹25,67,442

Assumptions behind every number on this page:

  • Basic pay at 50% of CTC, HRA at 40% of basic, the remainder as special allowance.
  • Employer PF and gratuity are part of CTC; no insurance premium, meal card or variable pay is assumed.
  • Professional tax is taken as ₹200 a month (₹2,400 a year). It varies by state: Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh do not levy it, and Karnataka exempts gross pay up to ₹25,000 a month.
  • Tax uses FY 2026-27 new-regime slabs, the ₹75,000 standard deduction, the Section 87A rebate up to ₹12 lakh with marginal relief, surcharge where relevant and 4% cess.
